Teller County Planning Department
Teller County Planning Commission (PC)
The PC consists of nine volunteer members (seven regular members and two alternate members) appointed by the Board of County Commissioners for three-year staggered terms. Members must be residents of Teller County.
The PC is a public governmental body appointed to consider a wide variety of land use issues and applications (see Section 1.11 and 1.12 of the Teller County Land Use Regulations). They are the decision-making body for land use applications including Conditional Use Permits, New Community (1041) Permits, and Location and Extent requests for the siting of public facilities and they make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on land use applications such as rezoning requests, Special Use Permits, Sign Exemptions, Off-premise Sign Permits, Modification of Infrastructure Standards, Special District Service Plans, new land use regulations and revisions to existing regulations, and subdivision preliminary plans. The PC is very involved in the crafting and adoption of the County's master plan, sub-area plans and other land use plans that serve to guide physical development within the unincorporated areas of the County. Decisions of the PC are final and binding although an appeal of a PC decision may be made through the Teller County Board of Adjustment.
Typically, the PC meets at 7:00 p.m. every second Tuesday of the month for public hearing, and 7:00 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of the month, as needed, for work sessions. All meetings and public hearings are open to the public and are usually held in the Council Chambers of the City of Woodland Park Administration Building, 220 West South Avenue, Woodland Park, Colorado.
