Employment Application Guidelines
Applicants Must Follow These Instructions

Teller County applications are available at the Teller County Human Resource Office, 112 North A Street, P.O. Box 959, Cripple Creek, 80813, or by clicking on the above link “Job Application Form”.  This form can be printed and submitted using the instructions below.

  • Applications that are not completed clearly and/or are not signed and dated may not receive consideration.
  • Applications will be kept for a period of one (1) year from the date application is received.
  • During that one year period an applicant can call Human Resources at (719) 689-2988, or email Human Resources at HR@co.teller.co.us and ask that their application be included for consideration for the desired open position.
  • The County will not be responsible for applications left in other County offices with the understanding that they will be forwarded to the HR office.

Applications completed for the open positions must be submitted by email to HR@co.teller.co.us, by fax to (719) 686-7900, by postal service to the above listed address or in person to the above listed address.

Applicants for Sheriffs Office positions (Deputy, Detention Officer/Deputy, Dispatcher) must use the Sheriff's Office Employment Application form.  Please click on the link below.  Applicant applying for Sheriff's Office positions that do not use the Sheriff's Office application will not be considered for these positions.

Job Description: Teller County is accepting applications for a Detention Officer. Responsible for performing duties related to enforce Federal, State and County laws and ordinances in conjunction with processing and care of prisoners; process inmates into and on release from the jail; monitor and respond to inmate and staff needs; work in control room and control alarms and access to and from the jail and inmates; and observe inmates in cells and wards and staff in jail. Requirements: Applicant must be in excellent physical condition to lift and carry 100 pounds; move and/or restrain person(s). High School diploma or GED plus some experience involving public contact. Job Description: Teller County seeks a Deputy Coroner. The Deputy Coroner provides back-up for the Coroner; at the direction of the Coroner. Responds to the scene of deceased persons; conducts investigations into the cause and manner of death; writes reports and maintains documentation of activities involved in death investigations; responsible for coordinating removal of deceased body with relatives and/or mortuary and provides initial instruction for care/maintaining the body as necessary for investigative purposes; examines the decedent for postmortem changes and trauma. Requirements: High School diploma or GED plus two years experience in a medical setting or any combination of education and experience. Must have a valid CO driver’s license and must be able to maintain confidentiality. Associates degree in Mammalian Biological or Medical Sciences preferred. Must have the ability to respond 24 hours per day, 7 days per week by phone as needed.
