    • Applications that are not completed clearly and/or are not signed and dated may not receive consideration.
    • Applications will be kept for a period of one (1) year from the date application is received.
    • During that one year period an applicant can call Human Resources at (719) 689-2988, or email Human Resources and ask that their application be included for consideration for the desired open position.
    • The County will not be responsible for applications left in other County offices with the understanding that they will be forwarded to the HR office.

Job Description: Teller County is accepting applications for a Detention Officer/Deputy. Responsible for performing duties related to enforce Federal, State and County laws and ordinances in conjunction with processing and care of prisoners; process inmates into and on release from the jail; monitor and respond to inmate and staff needs; work in control room and control alarms and access to and from the jail and inmates; and observe inmates in cells and wards and staff in jail. The most important and essential job function of the position is attitude which includes the following: interacting positively and cooperating with co-workers, responding politely to customers, delivering customer service, working as a team member, functioning under intense time pressure and responding in a positive manner to supervision. Job Description: Our fleet is modern, safe and reliable. We also offer a cooperative vacation schedule and four 10-hour workdays during the summer months. Must be able to proficiently operate and maintain assigned heavy equipment, assorted light equipment and trucks; provide day to day maintenance of equipment; ability to coordinate the work of a group of employees; be in good physical condition; ability to lift and carry 80 pounds; ability to work under adverse conditions; ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public; and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Job Description: Under direct supervision, determine initial and continuing eligibility for food stamps, all categories of public assistance and Medicaid. Gather, assemble and review information supplied by applicants and recipients regarding financial and non-financial criteria relevant to food stamp eligibility, financial assistance and/or medical assistance. This position requires the ability to learn and apply complex government rules/policies; counsel clients, prioritize, problem solve, seek alternative solutions; ability to enter data, maintain files, and working knowledge of computers.
Requirements: High school diploma or GED plus three (3) years working with the public or any combination of education and experience, and familiarity with CBMS system (Bachelor degree in human services field preferred). Requirements: Ability to clear/pass CBI and/or FBI background checks and pre-employment drug test; must have a valid CO driver’s license.
