Mission Statement

The Mission of the Teller County Sheriff’s Office is to enhance the quality of
life in Teller County by working cooperatively with the diverse communities to
enforce the laws of the United States Constitution and the State of Colorado. We
will strive to reduce the incidences of crime, preserve the peace , and provide
a safe community. It is our sworn duty to serve with dignity, honor and
respect, while at all times conducting ourselves with the highest ethical
standards to maintain public trust.
Code of Ethics
We believe in the preservation of basic human rights and maintenance of
individual dignity under the rule and spirit of law which dictates that the ends
do not always justify the means and that punishment is not a function of the
police.
We believe in proactive team management, open communication
and personnel input as a part of the policy and procedure formulation process.
We all recognize that once a decision is taken it is critical that everyone,
even those who may hold a contrary view, must work together to achieve
department goals. We believe in providing, empathetic, responsible and
professional service to citizens and visitors alike to ensure the quality of
life enjoyed in our rustic communities. The citizens of Teller County have
endowed us with a public trust. We honor that trust by holding ourselves to the
highest standards of professional conduct, wholly subscribing to the Law
Enforcement Code of Ethics.
As members of the Law Enforcement Community a great deal
more is expected of us than of those in other pursuits. Therefore, we hold that
our actions shall be professional, reasonable, exemplary and consistent with the
spirit and
word of this philosophy, Constitution of the United States, laws of the State of
Colorado and Ordinances
of the County of Teller.
