Please be advised that travelers utilizing Tunnel #9 located on CR 8 (Gold Camp Road) will experience delayed for approximately 1-1 ˝ hour increments on February 9, 10 & 11, 2010 between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. These delays will allow for exploratory borings of the tunnel structure which are needed as a part of the design phase in order to determine the extent of the work needed to rehabilitate this tunnel.

Although delays should be kept to a minimum, we ask that you please allow some extra time to get to your destination if you utilize this section of roadway. If possible, we recommend you use alternate routes.

Rehabilitation work on this tunnel is scheduled to begin later this year. Once the design work is complete, we will prepare plans and specifications and advertise for the construction work.

“This project paid for in part by a State Historical Fund grant from the Colorado Historical Society”. Teller County was awarded a grant from the Colorado Historical Society in the amount $200,000.00 to aid in the rehabilitation of this historic tunnel. The remaining funds will come from the County.
