SUBJECT: LEGALS TO NEW PAPER

The Teller County Board of County Commissioners designated the Gold Rush as the official newspaper of Teller County for the year 2001. In an effort to reduce publishing costs and to save paper, the Publisher agreed to reduce the per line fee if we provide information electronically.

Your legals may be included as a cut and paste into the body of an e-mail. Another option is to send an attachment in a Word 6 document or older (lower number) version. If you like, and if you use WordPerfect, save it as a "rich text format" (it will have an "rft." file extension) and the Courier/Gold Rush will be able to open it and use it.

f you are sending an Excel spreadsheet make sure you save it, before you send it, in an Excel 5 or older version so they may use it.

Please set up your e-mail to send you back a verification that the person on the other end has opened your e-mail. Here’s How: Open "New Mail" - type in the above address (and save it in your "contacts" file in e-mail program) then, type in your message, attach your document that has to go to the newspaper - click on "file" then click on "properties." At the bottom of the box that opens you will see two things that you can check one is a read receipt and one is a received receipt. Click both of these. It should work. Test it. Follow up with a phone call to Terri at the Courier a time or two to make sure this is working.

It is important to remember that it is Teller County that is required to meet publication requirements for certain actions and therefore it is ultimately OUR responsibility to make sure that these requirements have been met. Important: be sure to make it clear to the newspaper to whom/to which department they should send the bill.
