    • Applications that are not completed clearly and/or are not signed and dated may not receive consideration.
    • Applications will be kept for a period of one (1) year from the date application is received.
    • During that one year period an applicant can call Human Resources at (719) 689-2988, or email Human Resources and ask that their application be included for consideration for the desired open position.
    • The County will not be responsible for applications left in other County offices with the understanding that they will be forwarded to the HR office.

Job Description: Teller County is accepting applications for a Detention Officer/Deputy. Responsible for performing duties related to enforce Federal, State and County laws and ordinances in conjunction with processing and care of prisoners; process inmates into and on release from the jail; monitor and respond to inmate and staff needs; work in control room and control alarms and access to and from the jail and inmates; and observe inmates in cells and wards and staff in jail. The most important and essential job function of the position is attitude which includes the following: interacting positively and cooperating with co-workers, responding politely to customers, delivering customer service, working as a team member, functioning under intense time pressure and responding in a positive manner to supervision. Job Description: Teller County seeks an Equipment Mechanic II to work in the Fleet Department. The Equipment Mechanic II performs highly skilled mechanical repair and diagnostic work in the maintenance and/or repair of County vehicles and equipment in a departmental shop/facility. Performs preventative maintenance work and shop cleanup tasks. Documents job time, vehicle hours and miles, parts used per job, parts needed, and any repairs accomplished and provides this important information to proper sources, including input data into computer. Repair, rebuild, replace and diagnose problems in their area of responsibility on a wide variety of County equipment. Design and fabricate parts when needed. Inspects vehicles and equipment for compliance to State and Departmental Standards and/or Regulations then correcting any inconsistencies. Must be able to operate all classes of vehicles to troubleshoot, test and determine repairs needed. Provide “on-the-road” service in emergency situations including temporary repairs in the field. Job Description: Our fleet is modern, safe and reliable. We also offer a cooperative vacation schedule and four 10-hour workdays during the summer months. Must be able to proficiently operate and maintain assigned heavy equipment, assorted light equipment and trucks; provide day to day maintenance of equipment; ability to coordinate the work of a group of employees; be in good physical condition; ability to lift and carry 80 pounds; ability to work under adverse conditions; ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public; and ability to work with minimal supervision.
Requirements: High school diploma or GED. Basic equipment operating skills are desirable and a CDL is a plus, but for the right applicant we are willing to train.
